My paintings are about my responses to light moving over a landscape and the transformation effected by that light. The challenge of finding the equivalent in paint for this mutability provides a seemingly endless silent dialogue between myself, the subject, and the canvas. Ultimately the canvas takes on a life of its own and becomes more "real" than the subject which initially inspired it. When this reality appears to be achieved the painting is complete. However, can one ever know when a painting is truly finished? The possibilities are endless.
